Our family-run hotel is located in Menaggio in the province of Como, on the west bank of the lake at the start of an expansive valley that connects to Lake Lugano. We are in the main piazza of the village, within a pedestrian area that allows you to reach the shops, restaurants and bars by foot. The bus stop and pier are just a 5-minute walk away.
Whilst staying at Hotel Garni Corona, you can enjoy the lakeside promenade with a pleasant 700-metre stroll. Menaggio boasts an exclusive 18-hole golf course that was established in 1907, along with an expansive Lido (beach club) with a beach and swimming pool. There is also a public beach with free access where the evenings are often enlivened by musical events, art exhibitions and craft markets.
From Menaggio, you can cross the lake to reach the spectacular villages of Varenna and Bellagio or visit historic villas such as Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo and Villa del Balbianello in Lenno. What’s more, our 3-star Hotel is in a strategic position for visiting the cities of Como and Lugano, being just 35 kilometres and 27 kilometres away respectively. If you love being close to nature, the Greenway that connects Menaggio to Colonno is a 10-kilometre walk on a discovery of the greenest areas of Lake Como. To admire an imitable view of the lake and foothills of Como, the Argegno-Pigra cable car is a must.
From Milan, the Hotel Garni Corona is about 80 kilometres away. Follow the “Laghi” motorway, then take the A9 to Como—Chiasso. Take the Como Nord exit and, at the roundabout, follow the signs to Menaggio and take the SS340 state road. From Lugano, the Hotel is around 27 kilometres away. Take the Lugano Nord exit then follow the signs to Gandria—St.Moritz. Once having crossed Lugano, follow the signs to Menaggio. Once having passed customs in Gandria, follow the SS340 through to Menaggio.
The closest railway stations are Lugano (27 km), Como (30 km) and Varenna Esino (4 km).
From Milano Centrale Station, take the train to Como S.Giovanni or to Varenna-Esino.
From Lugano every 1 or 2 hours the ASF C12 bus line will take you to Menaggio (about 1 hour journey).
From Como Nord Lago every hour the ASF C10 bus line depart to Menaggio (1 hour and 10 min. journey approx.) or, at about 100m there is the pier from where boats and hydrofoils leave for Menaggio.
From Como S.Giovanni every hour the ASF bus line C10 passes (about 1 hour's journey).
From Varenna-Esino: go to the Varenna pier which is about 500m from the station from where, every hour, boats, ferries and hydrofoils will take you to Menaggio.
From Linate take a shuttle bus to Milano Centrale station (approx. 25 min journey).
From Malpensa take the "Malpensa Express" train to Como Nord Lago changing in Saronno (approx. 1 hour and 20 min. Travel - www.trenord.it).
From Orio al Serio take a shuttle bus or a taxi to Bergamo station (about 10/15 minutes travel time) and take the train to Varenna-Esino changing in Lecco (about 1 hour and 15 minutes travel time - www.trenitalia.it).
